Contact/OOC

Things to know:

  • My characters are on NA unless otherwise noted. I am willing to travel to whatever DC is open to facilitate RP.

  • I am open to both Discord and in-game RP. I am mostly active during the evening in CST.

  • A number of my characters may be set in locations they cannot access in game; I get around this by 1) using Lightless; 2). using a location they can access as a substitute; 3). using a housing location, or 4). Discord RP.

  • My hooks are merely suggestions to hopefully get the creative juices flowing; feel free to suggest different options !

  • I love long-term RP and character developments, and discussing them OOC, whether by text or in voice.

  • I am unlikely to want to do RP that is romantic first and foremost. I would rather do romantic relationships that develop naturally over the course of a long-term RP.

  • I do use Lightless and mods, but if you do not, I am happy to RP with you anyways!

  • No grievous bodily harm, character death, or ERP without prior discussion.

  • If we have an ongoing story and you have to step away for awhile - or you want to stop RPing with me altogether - that's fine, but please let me know!

"Where the Earth Spits"

“Did ya feel the earthquake last night?”
“Yea…pretty big one. Did ya ‘appen to look at the Seven Sisters this morning?”
“No, why? Somethin’ happen ta ‘em?”
“Well, there’s eight now.”

~ Conversation overheard in the Bucket, est. 5 years ago.

Regional Summary

(This page only includes part of the lore for the region. To see all the publicly available details, visit this document)A homebrew region in the NE of Shaaloani. Tender Valley, perhaps the most widely known example from this place, actually can be found in the southwestern corner of this region. Home to canyons, crevasses, disappearing rivers, and ruins of civilizations that appear to have been there for 1000s of years but the locals - such as they are - will swear up and down weren’t there fifty years ago. Or a hundred. Or ten.The town of Fool's Gold is the last outpost of the modern world before one ventures into this chaotic landscape. A failed cereluem mining town that found new life when rumors of ancient treasures of great value began to make their rounds on both sides of the salt, it attracts the adventurous, the desperate, and sometimes ~ merely the curious. The lack of water and the hostile landscape in the region have rendered it very unattractive for more permanent settlement. Regardless of this, the occasional isolated village may still be stumbled into by adventurers days or weeks out from Fool’s Gold; these villages do not appear on any known map, and are seldom found twice. The name, Tupoomuani, means in old Shetona: “Where the Earth Spits” - which is encapsulated in the stories and legends that persist about this region; the strange, the arcane, the ancient, and the unknown, constantly appearing as if spat from the earth itself - and vanishing, nearly as frequently. The true nature of the land has long gone unexamined and unrecorded; after all, if a remote valley that hosts the ruins of ancient pyramids that weren’t there twenty years ago suddenly drops a hundred yalms and turns into a lake, swallowing the exploring expedition that was sent there specifically to document it…did it really happen?

The Town of Fool's Gold

Fool’s Gold functions as the last stop for adventuring supplies, finding an adventuring party, a room, or even some local entertainment. It boasts a singular saloon/brothel known as the Bucket of Blue, a “bank”, a general store, a sheriff’s office, a doctor’s office, a graveyard, and a wide variety of smithies, stables, boarding houses, and single “family” homes that tend towards very few rooms and even fewer actual families. Wells are few and far between; indoor plumbing remains a rarity. The town overall has a strong culture around personal privacy; the official stance is “we don’t care where you’re from, or who you were, or what you did, as long as you keep your nose clean here.” Most people do not go by their birth names, choosing nicknames or monikers (or indeed, having them chosen for them) instead.

Rumors

“Is it just me, or have the earthquakes been getting more frequent in recent years? Ever since that Eighth Sister appears. And I mean, the red moon fell around that time too, didn’t it? They’ve gotta be related, right?”“I heard - multiple sources, mind you - that the sheriff - deputy sheriff, I mean - is some kind of snake wizard. Summoned a whole canyonful of snakes, that he did. Were you here fifteen years ago, when all those snakes came pouring out of Serpent’s Canyon? And who else came from Serpent’s Canyon, conveniently with no memories? Really makes you think, don’t it? What? I ain’t askin’ him! I don’t wanna wake up with a rattler in my boot!”“They say the good doctor has a whole collection o’ jars. If she does an autopsy on you, she always takes a bit out to keep as a keepsake. She might not even wait till you’re dead proper if you’ve got a bit inside you that’s interesting enough. So I heard, anyway…do me a favor and don’t mention it where she can hear you.”

"The Tribe"

The Tribe is a custom tribe of Raen Au ra. I do not object to people making their own members about it but I would love to discuss it first!

History

Several hundred years ago, a nomadic tribe of Raen found themselves on the Azim Steppe. They were driven out by the resident Xaela, and fled far to the north, to the most isolated mountain valleys where none cared to follow.Their fear of outsiders led to an extreme refusal to leave the barren mountains they came to call home, and the occasional wanderer who chanced upon them was presented with the simple choice: assimilate or die. When the red moon fell from the sky, The Tribe was beset by a number of sicknesses and disasters, thinning their ranks to dangerous levels, and now they face extinction.

Present Day

Given the severe reduction in population, The Tribe came to the decision that each member over twenty and under thirty, with no pre-existing obligations, would be sent forth into the world they had shunned for so long, with the following goals: establish new connections, learn of new things that would increase The Tribe's odds of survival, or else bring back fresh blood to keep their gene pool from imploding.Due to their long-standing distrust of strangers, each member leaving was required to take a "traveling name", to keep foreign spirits from learning their true names and using that information to find their way back to The Tribe and bring calamity upon it yet again.

Characteristics

Language: A variant of old Auri. Individuals' grasp of more modern tongues will vary.Physical appearance: Similar to other Au ra tribes, with the notable exception of females being as tall as the males in height. This is thought to be due to a dominant trait that was expressed and propogated early in The Tribe's history, although it is unclear if it existed before their isolation. Females do not develop mammary glands until late in the pregnacy of their first child.Religion: The Tribe's religion is heavily rooted in a belief in spirits. The Tribe believes that the world around them is innudated with spirits, and a number of their practices revolve around either appeasing the spirits, or attempting to not disturb them. Some spirits are thought to guide members of The Tribe forward, while others seek to cause harm.Martial Tradition: Earth-based aether manipulation is common in The Tribe, to the extent every child is taught it. Earth-based magics are used for both combat and healing. Other variants of aether can be manipulated by certain individuals, fire and lightning being the most common.

Nightkin

Nightkin are my flavor of vampires on the First. If you are also interested in playing this flavor of vampire, I'd love to talk about it!Nightkin are the result of a dark-aether aspected entity known as the Beast entering a mortal humanoid (commonly through the ingestion of blood) and the person subsequently dying with the blood in their system. They have no heartbeat, have super strength, keen night vision, superior hearing, and the ability to transform - although control over the transformation takes effort. The final form of the transformation is described thusly from the viewpoint of someone seeing a statue of it:"It is rearing up, with two oddly wiry, sinewy front -- legs? arms? that have outstretched hands and claws longer than the fingers they were attached to. The large, bulbous, elongated head - it was hard to see the top of it, reared up as it was, but from below the multiple jaws and multiple rows of fangs that glistened in the flickering torchlight were evident. Standing...in front of it, it was easy to imagine this might be the last view of a luckless prey as the creature descends on it...there were no discernable eyes...The body was large, bulging with what looked like beetle carapace, as leathery wings spread out against the ceiling, as if the creature is leaping into flight. The hind legs are oddly folded and jointed, looking mammalian but posed as if they were a locust’s, in the act of springing a great distance."Being a Nightkin has its downsides, as one might expect: a need to consume blood. While animal blood will work in a pinch, it lacks a certain satisfying element, and a Nightkin who consumes only it for a long period of time will find they grow hungrier and hungrier. There is also a psychological need to feed directly from the victim, and not doing so will eventually cause a loss of control in the Nightkin.Being a Nightkin is a battle of will between the humanoid the Nightkin once was and the hunger and destructive rage of the Beast. Each Nightkin, upon being turned, will have one eye turn red; if the Beast has dominated them, both eyes will be red.

Traits

  • One red eye when newly turned; two red eyes if their will is lost to the Beast.

  • Supernatural hearing, especially able to hear the heartbeat of living things.

  • Can see in the dark.

  • Can move across a room in the blink of an eye

  • Fangs and other morphological changes will occur in times of hunger and distress.

  • Extreme hunger and distress will force the Nightkin to transform either partially or completely into its Beast form.

Race: Viis/Nightkin
Gender: Male
Occupation: Necromancer, Scientist
Physical Description: Pallid skin, black hair, black scelara, blood-red eye, green eye, pointy teeth.
Personality: Indulgent. Hedonistic. Driven by his hungers, yet capable of occasionally not being a complete bastard. Seldom exercises it.
History: One of the finest necromancers in the ancient Ronkan empire, it also proved his undoing. When he awoke after night had returned to Norvrandt, he found himself without the Empire he'd given so much more...that, and three thousand years in a trapped sleep state, might have rendered him a just a wee bit mad.

Hooks

~You run across a peculiar Viis in the Ra'tika Greatwoods, or he runs across you. Will you indulge his varied and bizarre questions?~ You find yourself in a life or death situation. History

During The Everlasting Day, people speculated on whether Izane Muirgane ever left the Cabinet of Curiosity; no matter what hour one turned up in the Archives, if the words passed your lips that you sought some old book or little-known manuscript, she would materialize like a book-based dryad and offer assistance to your search. While there were other librarians, none could match her knowledge of the ancient and unknown. Her eccentricities and fierce possessiveness of her stacks were easily written off as the price one must pay for knowledge such as hers. When Night returned, she began leaving the library, wandering far and wide to collect and compile first-hand accounts of the return of Night.

Hooks

~You meet Fernwick wandering about somewhere. Maybe he's lost. Maybe he's looking for something. Maybe you can help.~You meet a Galdjent and a pixie arguing about something. Will you weigh in?~Maybe something needs stabbing or protecting. The quiet giant could definitely use the money.

Alemayehu Menemi

Name: Alemayehu Menemi
Datacenter: OCE
MSQ Progression: Base ARR
Age: 27
Race: Wefi (custom bird race)
Gender: male
Physical Description: 4' 2"; red skin, red and black feathers. Wings that are capable of flight.
Personality: Angry. Does not hesitate to strike at the unknown. Not prone to trusting.
Strengths: Self-reliant. Decisive. Has the strength (and stubbornness) of his convictions.
Weaknesses: Angry at the world. Struggles to trust people. With his lack of knowledge comes a certain gullibility.
History: Alemayehu was named Berhanu Yesimeni. Originally of the North Colony, he lived there with his twin brother and his parents, but it was not a particularly happy family. His mother ruled the nest with a iron claw, inflicting her whims on her family behind closed doors while also forcing them to present a pleasant, united front to the colony. Things came to a head shortly before he was meant to be bonded to his pledged, and the ultimate result of it was that a teenaged Bereket struck his mother with a deadly blow. Regardless of his justification, and the fact that his father and brother failed to rally behind him, he was banished for his crime.
After his wings were clipped and he was delivered to the rock where he was meant to be exiled, he declared himself unwilling to spend his life banished, only to spend eternity with his abuser in the sky. Wings clipped, he threw himself from the heavens and fell to the earth below. He gazed at the ground approaching him, and found it the most wondrous sight.Having survived his fall, much to his surprise, he gave himself a new name: Alemayehu, "I have seen the world"He was rescued by a woman who worked for a certain detective agency seeking proof of other shards, and since has chosen to follow in her footsteps, pursuing the strange and the occult.

Physical Description: Inky black skin, hair, and scales; bright red eyes; lithe and agile,
Personality: She'd stab you as soon as look at you - as long as she is getting paid for it. Otherwise she'll settle for a cutting remark. She has a cruel streak she will occasionally indulge. Morals are for other people. Perhaps not surprisingly, she does not form friendships, she develops contacts. And if she cuts a contact, it is quite literal.
History: Considering some of her fighting techniques, she was probably born on the Steppe. Considering her preferred dress is that of the Rogue's guild, it seems likely she spent some time there, although the Rogue's guild will deny any association with her or what she does. She is as hard to pin down as a shadow, and it's easy to imagine she likes it that way.

Hooks

  • You have someone that needs killing, or you need the sort of bodyguard that wouldn't hesitate to kill in your defense.

  • You have the misfortune of being her current mark. Can you convince her otherwise, or escape? (OOC discussion required)

  • You're in pursuit of the mysterious assassin. How close can you get? What sort of exchanges might you have? Will she consider you worth killing if she isn't being paid for it? (OOC discussion required)

Desta Wedek'e nati Yemi'irabi

Name: Desta Wedek'e nati Yemi'irabi
Datacenter: OCE
MSQ Progression: End of Stormblood
Age: 21
Race: Wefi (custom bird race)
Gender: female
Physical Description: Four fulms tall, pale blue skin, light blue hair/feathers, wings capable of flight
Personality: quiet. Can be sarcastic. Wee bit paranoid.
Strengths: can literally fly. Resistant to cold. Quite agile.
Weaknesses: less strong than a lalafell. Responds poorly to warm climates. Easily intimidated. Since falling, reacts to pretty much everything she doesn't understand with fear, which she sometimes masks with sarcasm or, depending, biting.
History: Desta had been traveling with several others from her natal nest (West Colony) to the North Colony when a sudden storm arose and the winds forced her away from the islands. Not strong enough to fly back up, and with undeveloped feathers yet, she was blown for malms and malms, until she finally crash-landed...somewhere in Eorzea.

Estebeni At'insebari

Name: Estebeni At'insebari ("Bonebreaker")
Links: RPHub
MSQ Progression: End of EW
Age: 26
Race: Aegyl variant of Wefi (custom bird race)
Gender: female
Height: 4' 1"
Class: Summoner
Physical Description: brown wings capable of flight; brown head feathers and tail feathers; brown skin, black eyes, black hair with golden highlights.
Personality: warm; bubbly; diplomatic; struggles with paranoia when it comes to her own people.

History

Unlike the main branch of Wefi, Estebeni's people broke off centuries ago and attempted to migrate to Dalmasca, where they met with fierce resistence. Under the guide of a charismatic leader, they fought back before eventually retreating to a promised land in the sky.Fast forward to current day, and Estebeni's people's contact with outsiders has mostly be restrained to fighting off aspiring sky pirates. Estebeni, with youth, hope, and dreams, believed her nation would be better served by establishing diplomacy and trade with the lands below. However, misfortune occurred, and she finds herself trapped on the ground while she recovers from the fireball that destroyed her airship and her mission in one moment. Still, she believes in the dream of a not-as-shut-off Aegyl nation, and when she's able to return home, she plans to pursue her goals of that mission - whatever form they may take.

Hooks

  • Do you function in goverment or some sort of leadership capacity? Estebeni would be open to friendly conversation and perhaps a discussion of what your peoples can offer each other.

  • Perhaps you are in Valnain and pay a visit to the Temple of Faram there, currently undergoing restoration. Perhaps you find the small bird there, watering plants or doing other temple duties. Perhaps a chat about what brings you both there is in order.

  • Do you work with airships? Might you consider risking life and limb to travel to a faraway land to meet a new people under uncertain circumstances for ambiguous reward? If so, Estebeni might want a conversation with you.

  • Estebeni's brand of summoning magic uses white auracite. Is your character aware of white auracite and its ramifications? Are they curious as to Estebeni's use of it?

Notes

Race: Her people call themselves Aegyl, but they are actually a mix of  Wefi (a custom race) with more traditional Aegyl elements from other FF titles. I am happy to figure how our birds' histories dovetail together if you play an aegyl of your own!

Iya'she

Name: Iya'she
Links: RPHub
Age: 140s
Race: Shetona (Viera)
Gender/Pronouns: Male, he/him
Occupation: Landsguard
Height: 6'0"
Eye Color: Turquoise green
Hair: Reddish-brown, shoulder length
Personality: Kind-hearted, gentle, a strong desire to assume the best of everyone in spite of evidence that might exist to the contrary. Always willing to talk about his five cats, capybara pup, and shshuye.

History

Born in Yyasulani before a united Tural, Iya'she participated in the tail end of the Shetona-Tonawawta wars out of necessity. When the Dawnservant offered Iya'she a place in the Landsguard, Iya'she, entranced by the Dawnservant's vision for peace, accepted and has been a part of the Landsguard ever since. His duties have ranged from vidraal hunting to peacekeeping to palace duty, and he often accompanies the Vows (whom he has known since their childhoods) when they travel, although he will often minimize talking about the closeness of his relationship with them for the sake of their privacy.

Hooks

  • Cats. He often will have a cat with him. Do you like cats? Are you prepared to be trapped in conversation for some time?

  • Do you need a helping hand? Whether as an official representative of the Landsguard or not, he is usually willing and able.

  • Do you need a guide around Tuliyollal? An introduction to the best food places? He knows most of them, and is happy to share his love of the city with anyone.

  • Are you from Yyasulani? He was born there, and is happy to meet anyone with a connection to the place.

  • His former partner vanished in the middle the night around five years ago with all the change in the change jar. Still, he is probably willing to talk about them fondly, should the matter of relationships come up.

Deputy Sheriff of Fool's Gold

Name: Jackjoe, also known as "Deputy Sheriff" or, if you wish to annoy him, "Sheriff."MSQ Progression: HW patchesAge: more than 60, less than 200, probably. He's unsure.Race: Shetona (Viera)Gender: MaleHeight: 5' 7"Animal Companion: A rroneek named "Dumb Bastard"Occupation: Deputy SheriffBase of Operation: A treasure hunting town called Fool's Gold in Tupoomuani, a custom region in the Northeast of Shaaloani (think Tender Valley).Physical Description: tanned brown skin, blue hair with white highlights, one white eye, one blue eye. Was tattooed (?) at one point with some sort of red ink, which is now heavily scarred, extending from collarbone, to wrists, to ankles; however, this tattooing is barely visible, save for glimpses where such body parts show through his clothes (He tends to wear long sleeves and pants to avoid questions about this).Personality: Gruff, no-nonsense, sarcastic.Strengths: Keeps a cool head in an emergency, a good shot with his pistols and rifle, a strong will to survive, a crippling desire to do the right thing in spite of himself.Weaknesses: a keen sense of his failings, an unwillingness to go against the people paying his salary, a cowardliness compounded by fear of certain possible unpleasant truths lurking in his past, and a giant blind spot of rage where certain lawyers are concerned.

History

Twenty years ago, the Sheriff of Fool's Gold, a Tonawawta man, found the blue-haired Shetona dying of dehydration and starvation in the desert. He brought him back to Fool's Gold and nursed him back to health, eventually offering him a position as deputy sheriff. 'Jackjoe,' as the Shetona was named by the sheriff when he refused to give one, stayed on as deputy and close to the man who'd rescued him, looking to him as both friend and mentor. A few years ago, the sheriff abruptly disappeared, and when Jackjoe tried to investigate, he was informed that such investigations could turn out to be ill for one's health. He is a mostly quiet man, choosing his words carefully most of the time. He claims to have no memory of his life before Fool's Gold, and avoids speaking of the previous sheriff in anything but current tense. He stubbornly refuses all attempts at formal promotion to Sheriff, clinging to his title of "Deputy Sheriff".

Hooks

~You are out in Shaaloani when the blue-haired Shetona runs across you. Are you lost? Do you need help? Where are you going? Are you under attack by something?~You stumble into a town out in Shaaloani. Jackjoe is at whatever watering hole is there. He might be up for a conversation. If that town is Fool's Gold, he's happy to give you a lay of the land and insight into the town's culture.~Are you seeking answers to the mystery that is Tupoomuani? Or what treasure might lie in it? He'll be happy to give you his thoughts.~You saw a poster or received word of some dangerous, deadly, or just plumb strange critter in the region. Jackjoe's probably the person who sent out the poster, and therefore just the person you should talk to about killing and collecting the bounty on the thing.~A rumor that won't seem to die dogs Jackjoe's steps - that he is some sort of powerful sorcerer with a mastery of snakes. Bring it up to him and see what happens.

Kaiwano Suuyu Weiyuma

"The Dark Star Shines"

Name: Kaiwano Suuyu Weiyuma
Age: 18 or thereabouts
Race: Maikong (custom fox shifter race)
Gender: male
Occupation: wanderer
Base of Operation: Tural
Physical Description: Dark, nearly black skin; black hair and tail with gray highlights; yellow eyes; canine-shaped ears.
Personality: Prior to the Event in his history, Kaiwano was a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, mischievous sort. Afterwards, he became quiet, cautious, and withdrawn, with a deep suspicion of anyone who hasn't earned his trust.
Strengths: Adept at surviving in the wild. Skilled hunter. Fast runner.
Weaknesses: Lacks knowledge of the world and its cultures, including those in Tural. Unfamiliarity with modern life. Hesitant to trust.
History: Kaiwano grew up in the deep jungles of Yak Tel, owing to his people's fear of outsiders. Centuries of persecution from neighbors who attribute their shifting abilities to the unnatural influence of tural vidraal have driven them to the edges of the world, into the most harsh and unforgiving environs. Even so, this was not always enough to save them, and Kaiwano's village was wiped out by a group of vidraal hunters searching for a turaal vidraal. Kaiwano barely escaped with his life. After those events, and for lack of a better path, Kaiwano has started wandering the world at large, searching for more of his people.

Name: Kate
MSQ Progression: End of Endwalker
Age: 27
Race: Elezen
Gender: female
Occupation: Explorer, adventurer, and horse wrangler
Base of Operation: Shaaloani, but can be anywhere
Physical Description: Dark brown skin with warm undertones, black and white hair, often worn in dreads. Most often seen in western/Shaaloani style clothing.
Personality: Inquisitive, bold, a thirst for learning about new people and cultures. Tends to throw herself whole-heartedly into whatever she is into at the moment.

Hooks

  • You're either out and about somewhere in the world. No matter how far or how remote, perhaps you meet Kate there, fully immersed and enjoying the culture and the atmosphere.

  • You meet her and perhaps one of her horses in Shaaloani. Perhaps there is something to fight, or merely conversation to be had.

  • OOC discussion: (Ishgard background) You recognize her face, perhaps, although not the name she is using. What is a daughter of Ishgardian nobility doing so far from home?

Khorchi of the Red Dawn

Name: Khorchi of the Red Dawn
MSQ Progression: Late Heavensward
Age: 22
Race: Xaela Au ra
Gender: female
Occupation: Pirate captain
Base of Operation: Her ship, the Smokewater Gem
Physical Description: White skin, blue hair, blackish blue scales, bright blue eyes.
Personality: Boistrous, loud, (over) confident
Strengths: Ambitious, loved by her crew, not afraid of a challenge
Weaknesses: A tendency to bluff with a weak hand and overrun others in pursuit of her goals. Has a growing obsession with a treasure foretold by a prophecy about her and her brother before they were born. Tends to struggle with other captains/people fencing her goods not respecting her authority on account of her age.

History

She was born to an Au ra mother in some unspecified port town, with an half-hyur brother (Robyn). An old crone spoke of some sort of prophecy to their mother...which Khorchi has never gotten the full details of, but it heavily implied that her and her brother were keys to finding a great treausre. The twins were separated at birth, and Khorchi was raised by the man she called Father (who might have been her father...who knows), who was a successful pirate in his own right. She eventually took over control of his ship (The Smokewater Gem) and his crew upon his retirement, and has some success in making her own mark upon the high seas, although getting people outside of her crew to respect her as a captain is still an uphill battle.

Hooks

  • She's in port, mayhaps looking for rumors of treasure on information on her brother. Do you have information to sell? (Accuracy optional)

  • She's at some seaside tavern for a drink. She'll happily drink and then talk your ear off about things she should probably keep private.

  • Looking to join a pirate crew? She's the one to talk to. Can you convince her to let you on?

K'inich Ty'at

Name: K'inich Ty'at
Links: RPHub
MSQ Progression: Dawntrail
Age: 40s
Race: Xbr'aal (Hrothgar)
Gender: It's Complicated
Occupation: Taqueria / Hostel owner & Proprieter.
Base of Operation: Tuliyollal, could be anywhere in Tural, feasibly
Physical Description: Larger-than-normal ears, golden hair and fur, dark fangs and claws, bright green eyes, black markings, slender horns
Height: 6' 6"
Personality: Complicated.
History: K'inich had a reasonably normal life in a remote tribe of Yak T'el until the red moon fell from the sky, and she discovered she was not alone in her head. Facing ostracization from her people and her family when beset with what seemed to be a sudden mental illness, she took her leave of them and left to search for answers - or, preferably, a cure. The voices told her they were shards of her soul, each fallen in a great calamity that consumed their world, and the fact she was hearing them meant that another one had happened; each time such a one happened, they would all wake up with a new one among their number.K'inich may hold some doubt as to whether they speak true (although recent events in Yyasulani suggest that perhaps they are). In the meantime, she needs to put her life back together. Somehow, that led to her running a Taqueria with high-quality local food and drink, and an attached hostel for wanderers who need a place for the night.

Hooks

  • Need a job, bed, or good local cuisine? K'inich can help you out there.

  • Perhaps while talking to them you notice that their voice and speaking patterns vary. is this worth following up on?

  • Do you believe in honor, chivalry and loyalty, or fighting to the death for it?

  • Do you like big game hunting, exploring the unknown, and protecting those in need? Do you like stew?

  • Do you dabble in alchemy and botany? Have a problem a potion might solve? want information on plants ranging from the accurate to the deadly inaccurate? Like the finer details of making jewelry?

  • Do you like the waves, the sunshine, and the cuisine of Tuliyollal? Looking for a splendid time in the sun? Enjoy plants with perception-altering properties?

  • Are you interested in all things science and hearing strange alien words such as "nuclear physics" and "Quantum mechanics?"

  • Were you a child prodigy shouldering burdens you should have not had to carry? Do you feel responsible for not being able to save those close to you? Do you wish to live a life for yourself, for a change?

  • Were you raised high, only to fall? Only to lose everyone who believed in you? Did your faith or religion abandon you when you needed it most?

Personality: Soft and friendly. Will often trade for goods if money is not available, or even for free if the need is great. Often travels alone, deliberately so. Is familiar with the flora and fauna of many places.
History: Born in Bozja, Lilja was sent away to a relative in Dalmasca not long before that city-state was obliterated. She became a peddler at a young age, specializing in traveling between remote outposts that would not see a lot of traffic otherwise.

HISTORY

Born on the 9th shard in Everkeep shortly before the entire city was plopped on the Source, Mariposite spent the vast majority of her life until recently in that tower. Never a very social personality, she found her niche in being a tester for the various systems that keep Everkeep running - and finding backdoors into places that weren't meant to be meandered into.

HOOKS

~You're in Solution 9, either wandering about or looking for something. Perhaps the little blond-haired milala can help.~ You need help with an electrope tablet or other device. Perhaps the milala can help - or make things worse.~ At a bar, a coffee shop, or perhaps even a park, you might find the Milala with a stack of paper, attempting to explore her creative side. Do you want to create along with her? Share your own creative endeavors?~ (Dome Era RP) You've heard rumors of someone with the ability to tweak what is on a regulator - some say you can even fool the system into thinking you don't exist at all. Qestra Djt-Gilda

Name: Qestra Djt-Gilda
Links: RPHub
Age: 36
Race: Viera, Rava
Gender: Male
Height: 6' 8"
Occupation: Ex Wood-Warder, current wanderer
Base of Operation: Dalmasca
Physical Description: tanned, brown skin; one gold eye, one green eye; white hair; white tribal markings; claw mark scars on his right forearm, right ribcage; an obvious ridge on his sternum; smaller scars on his throat; his right hand does not open or close properly. Much taller than the average male Viera. Wears a specific charm bracelet.
Personality: Somber; reserved; loyal; sense of duty; searching.

History

Raised in a traditional Rava lifestyle in the Golmore jungle, he was trained by a mentor after reaching puberty to become a Wood-Warder. Shortly after becoming a Master and allowed to patrol the Woods alone, an incident happened that left him scarred, without the full use of his right hand, and reduced strength even several years later. Also, after that incident, he could no longer hear the Word of the Wood, driving him to leave the Wood. He now wanders, mostly in deserted places, searching for something he's not sure he can find.

Hooks

  • In a remote place in Dalmasca, you are surprised by an encounter with a larger-than-average Viera. Did you need aid? Were you merely sitting at a fire? Are you searching for something of your own?

  • Perhaps you are in Valnain and pay a visit to the Temple of Faram there, currently undergoing restoration. Perhaps you find the large Viera there, watering plants or doing other temple duties. Perhaps a chat about what brings you both there is in order.

  • Are you a Rava formerly of the Wood? He will be eager to talk to those with his shared experience.

Robyn Wardwake

Name: Robyn Wardwake
MSQ Progression: Base ARR
Age: 22
Race: Half Hyur, Half Au ra
Gender: Male
Occupation: Dockhand, sometimes. Whatever he can do to survive.
Base of Operation: Anywhere there might be a port.
Physical Description: Young, boyish face, black scales on his body, black scaly au ra tail. Blue and black long hair, one black eye, one white eye.
Personality: Easy to smile, enjoys life's basic pleasures, a bit adrift in what he actually wants out of life at the moment, unless it means not being used as a pawn by someone else, in particular his sister. Tends to talk out loud to himself - the more alone he thinks he is, the more he will talk. Has a singing voice that compels most people to stop what they are doing to listen.

History

He was born to an Au ra mother in an unspecified port town, with a full-blooded Au ra sister (Khorchi). The twins were separated shortly after birth, after an old crone spoke of some sort of prophecy to their mother...which Robyn has never gotten the full details of. He was raised on an isolated island in the care of a woman he called Aunty and a small community, primarily composed of retired sailors or others who looked for peace and quiet. Ships only stopped by the island on a very irregular basis, forcing the island dwellers to be largely self-sufficient. One day, a shipwrecked sailor was cast up on their shore, and they took him in, intending to nurse him back to health. However, the shipwrecked sailor carried a virulent diesease, which proceeded to wipe out every soul on island - except for Robyn, who proceeded to live on the island, alone, for another two years, until his sister Khorchi showed up on her own ship to take him away. Khorchi, having been told that her and her long-lost brother were instrumental to a prophecy foretelling the location of great treasure, sought her brother out in an attempt to make this prophecy come true and find this treasure. Robyn, eventually feeling like his sister only saw him as a means to an end and having no actual familial affection for him, eventually ditched his sister's ship as she was sailing out of a port town, and has been doing his best to eke out his own existence...and not get caught by Khorchi again.

Hooks

  • You just got off the ship and need the assistence of a local. The half au ra, half hyur dockhand might be of assistence.

  • You need an errand done of questionable legality. Don't let on about the questionableness of it, and he'll probably help.

  • You hear singing that you find beautiful and mesmerizing. Perhaps you look for the singer and talk to them.

Dancer & Entertainer of Shaaloani

Name: The Sable Spadassin (stage name, but they'll happily respond to Sable. What name did their mother give them? They're not telling)Age: 28Race: Shetona (Viera)Gender: Agender/Nonbinary ("Oh, I'm just me, honey. Ain't got nobody else to be").Physical Description: Skin as dark as a moonless night, eyes as red as the seething heart of a volcano, hair as black as a raven's wing with highlights as white as a dove's down.Personality: Cocky, flamboyant, flirty.Strengths: The ability to make anyone feel like they are their best friend. Excellent at performing (dancing and other...things). An impeccable sense of fashion (at least, they would tell you this is a strength of theirs).Weaknesses: Bad with money (really bad). For all their ability to make friends, they struggle to actually establish meaningful bonds (or at least, any they would hesitate to throw away). A tendency to blame everyone else for problems in their life.

Hooks

~Your travels - whatever they be for - lead you to stop at a saloon where Sable is working (for the time being), either for a show or as a server on the floor.~You are on the road, and you suddenly find yourself in the company of a very extroverted, excitable Shetona, who really just needs a protector to travel with to the next town, please and thank you, they're ever so grateful.~Sable did a stint in the Tuliyollal entertainment industry, and vanished from it nearly as fast as they appeared. If you are from the entertainment industry there, maybe you have an idea why they're working cheap saloons in middle of nowhere...or maybe not. (OOC discussion required)

A Doctor of Shaaloani

Name: Sheeho
Age: 60s
Race: Hhetsarro
Gender: female
Physical Description: Pale skin, brown hair, usually wears prescription goggles
Personality: Has the bedside manner of a roll of barbed wire. This attitude pretty much extends to every other part of her life.
Strengths: Can remain cool, calm, and collected in extreme circumstances. Is a skilled doctor. Has the trust and confidence of townsfolk and travelers alike.
Weaknesses: While she can shoot a gun, like most people in Shaaloani, she is not a combat expert. Has a perpetual wall between her and people who might get close to her, even if she might want a closer relationship. While she can do some low-level healing spells, she lacks the necessary capability to do more than try to stabilize someone if they're gravely injured.
History: Sheeho is probably one of the longest-lasting denizens of Fool's Gold, having first moved there when it was an optimistic ceruleum mining town, and has served as the town doctor for that length of time (30 years, more or less. She has also been saying, repeatedly, for the last 20 years, she's going to leave that dusty dump. People have rather stopped believing her at this point). Like many denizens of Fool's Gold, her life before coming there is a firmly closed book. While she can use some healing magic, she vastly prefers non-magical means to get people back on their feet (Also, she can't do that much of it, which is another factor). She loves collecting gossip, although she is very strict on what information she shares. There have been attempts to woo the good doctor, which usually results in the hopeful suitor leaving town in a hurry (sometimes in the middle of the night, if you believe the rumors). Some whispers suggest (only when the good doc is nowhere to hear them) that she carried a flame for the old Sheriff, who has been missing for several years at this point. If she knows what happened to him, she's not sharing that, either.

Hooks

  • You collect and sell herbs, oddities, or other medical supplies. She's probably interested.

  • You have an injury that needs treatment.

Thunder Snow

Name: 'Thunder Snow', a 'traveling name'
MSQ Progression: Base ARR
Age: 26
Race: Raen Au Ra, of "The Tribe"
Gender: Male
Occupation: Explorer
Base of Operation: Primarily the far east, could also be in various locations throughout Eorzea
Physical Description: Pale white skin, white scales, white hair with black highlights, pitch black eyes
Personality: Quiet, surly, generally suspicious
Strengths: A decent wielder of thunder and lightning magicks. Pragmatic approach to things. A deep sense of loyalty to perceived duty, regardless of personal costs.
Weaknesses: Overly suspicious of people and their motives. Reluctance to show anything that could be a weakness. Unwillingness to directly admit when he is wrong.

History

He grew up as a member of a tribe of isolated Raen (known by its members as 'The Tribe') far north of the Azim Steppe.
When the Calamity happened and their small numbers were further reduced, the elders sent forth a number of their surviving youths out into the world, either to establish new connections, learn of new things that would increase The Tribe's odds of survival, or else bring back fresh blood to keep their gene pool from imploding.
Due to their superstitions long seated in their distrust of strangers, each person leaving was required to take a "traveling name", to keep foreign spirits from learning their true names and using that information to find their way back to "The Tribe" and using it to inflict harm on them. Thunder Snow chose his name in part because of his fascination for that particular weather occurrence, but also for his affinity with lightning magics. While reluctant to leave the Tribe for a world he's been told his entire life is full of dangers and peril, he did so out of duty to the Tribe, and, having been out in the wider world but a short time, has come to realize there is so much unknown by the Tribe, so he considers it his duty to learn as much about it as he can, which he prefers to do by observation, rather than talking to people, although inevitably it cannot be helped.

Hooks

  • You're in a crowded bar, and the only seat left is next to a surly-looking Raen. Are you bold enough to take the seat and strike up a conversation?

  • You're out in the wilds after a large hunt mark and find a lightning-wielding Raen there already, although he doesn't seem to be there on purpose. He could probably use a hand.

Name: Willow Carpenter
Datacenter: EU
MSQ Progression: Base ARR
Age: 26
Race: Half elezen, half hyur
Gender: male
Occupation: Carpenter
Base of Operation: Gridania
Physical Description: Tan, black hair with a widow's peak, short pointed ears, decently muscled from manual labor
Personality: Has a tendency to hyperfocus on his craft, to his occasional detriment or possibly personal growth. Is generally easy going, if perpetually distracted.
History: Born in Gridania to a Hyur woman, Willow never knew his biological father, although his own physical traits suggest he was an elezen. His mother remarried a Hyur carpenter and adopted Willow, who he trained in the craft, along with Willow's half-brother. When the Calamity happened, Willow's entire family perished, and since then, he's kept doing what he knows how to do - to become the best carpenter he can be, in keeping with his adopted father's teachings - although he has certainly hyperfocused on it, in all liklihood to distract himself from the family he lost.

Hooks

  • You have something you want made. Can you convince the carpenter to pay attention long enough to take your comission?

  • You're an adventurer or bodyguard for hire. Willow is going out into the wilds to collect his own lumber, and will pay someone else to keep his hide in one piece.

  • You want to learn the craft, but the half-elezen half-hyur isn't known for taking on students. Can you convince him to change his mind?

They have recently decided to emulate their older cousin and travel across the salt to explore the world. It is their first time away from everyone they know, and it is an adjustment to do things for themself without relying on others to carry the bulk of the conversation. They prefer hand signals, but carry a small blackboard for more rapid communication in some situations.

Hooks

  • You are traveling by train to one of the other settlements that survive on the 9th. Will you encounter lightning? (definitely) Dangerous beasts? (probably) Tracks that need to be repaired before your trip can continue? (most likely). At the very least, expect shenanigans.

  • You are a member of Treno or another surviving 9th settlement. Perhaps you meet in a pub, and can regale each other with tales of derring-do and survival in this harsh environment.

  • Zaziza loves animals - especially dogs. Do you have a pet of your own?
